A vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM) (also referred to as a Foner magnetometer) is a scientific instrument that measures magnetic properties of materials as a function of magnetic field. VSM operates on Faraday’s Law of Induction, a changing magnetic field will produce an electric field. This electric field can be measured and can obtain information about the changing magnetic field.
Some of the properties that VSM can measure include magnetic moment and coercivity, Hysteresis loop and can be used on thin films, bulk materials, liquids or powders.
